The role of Distribution Centre Operations Manager and its duties and responsibilities
The Distribution Centre Operations Manager runs the warehouse operations for Kia New Zealand. The role is a leadership role but one with a hands-on operational focus.
In conjunction with the senior leadership team the Manager will also be involved in the transition and set up of the new significant Kia New Zealand national distribution center as well as new dealer management systems for the company.
The role reports to the National Parts Manager and Kia NZ Managing Director and is responsible for providing a highly functioning parts warehouse and assisting the needs of the Kia NZ dealer network.
Duties include but are not limited to:
You will be responsible for the supply chain process, staff management, and processes including both current and pending implementation of new systems, ensuring productivity and KPI targets are met.
Management of 3 warehouse and logistics staff and overseeing the job functions outlined, a sample of tasks and areas of leadership responsibility is provided below:
The skills and abilities sought
A level of commercial acumen is required for this role leading warehouse operations. This must be coupled with the appropriate warehousing and managerial expertise.

This is a role where your input into systems and management of logistics and warehousing is critical to the role. You will need to be capable of working alongside the executive team while also supporting your direct reports.
Remuneration and benefits
Monday to Friday role with an attractive 6 figure income is payable; complemented by a company car, cell phone, and additional benefits are also all provided for.

You will be responsible for the supply chain process, staff management, and processes including both current and pending implementation of new systems, ensuring productivity and KPI targets are met.
Management of 3 warehouse and logistics staff and overseeing the job functions outlined, a sample of tasks and areas of leadership responsibility is provided below:
- Total management of sea freight container devanning and shelving
- Regular management and efficient use of stock locations and shelving
- Cost control and FTE resource allocation
- Staff management, motivation, control, training, appraisal
- Development of staff through external and “On the job” training
- Assistance in achieving sales targets and KPI’s
- Reporting of target achievement, dealer data and internal KPI progress
- Monitor market price (transport + warehouse materials) relativity vs current supplier
- Responsible for the warehouse as a Transitional Container Facility
- Ensuring warehouse staff are MAF and Customs licence compliant
- Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security.
- Ensuring the workplace is safe for all company employees while observing legal/govt. considerations and obligations
- Communication with the National Parts Manager on all areas
- Backorder processing, monitoring and dealer notification
- Airfreight (VOR) prompt distribution to dealers
- Ensure parts orders are processed and delivered to dealers in a timely manner
- Process Dealer and Supplier parts claims as they come to hand
- Dealer support all areas. (order tracking, general queries)
- Ensure tools and equipment are suitably maintained and always in safe working condition.
- Dealer training support, training where required and reporting
- Inventory: physical stock control and stock taking
The skills and abilities sought

Other skills sought include the following:
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Excellent Excel skills and general IT literacy
- Current forklift licence with at least 3 years’ experience
- Current MPI experience (ATF and or TFO qualification)
- Current Safety and Health warehousing related qualifications and understanding
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
