Job Seeker Support

Welcome to the section of our website dedicated to the specialised needs of job seekers. Our consulting team are happy to communicate with you as to any aspect of your application process.

Here are the answers to some commonly asked questions

What is the best way to keep track of new roles emerging?

The site has job alerts, sign up and the new roles relevant to your job search get sent to you, you can apply easily.  Our job alerts page allows you to set up an account and track applications you have made.

How do I apply for jobs on your site with a mobile device?

The best way is to sign up to a cloud-based storage company such as Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive.  From here you can upload your resume through the “apply now” section of each job ad.

You can also safely store your resume in our resume storage facility.  You can access this anytime you require and make changes, apply for jobs and manage career more effectively.

I applied for a role, received an automated reply and have not heard back yet.

Recheck the ad you applied to.  Does it have a closing date?  If so this will be the date the consultant commences processing for the assignment. If the ad has a closing date the employer is managing the process and wants to consider all resumes on the closing date. This may explain the delay.

If the ad does not have a closing date go to the contact us page of this site and request an update on your application.

It is also not uncommon for those applicants sending applications from free email addresses to experience mail management issues.  While Automotive Employment NZ does not use email servers for candidate applications we have no control over the email provider you use. Don’t assume we have received your application if we have not been back in touch.   We may not have received it.

I am in New Zealand and you have no vacancies advertised in my location. Can you help me find work in my area?

Our client base is fully national and comprises of over 2500 New Zealand motor industry employers. The answer is usually yes, our contacts are extensive and reach well beyond the sample of vacancies we advertise.

Do you accept offshore applications?

Yes, we will also move mountains to help you with your relocation and are well known for this activity.

I keep getting polite automated replies declining my application, why is this?

We can’t help everybody but we can help many job seekers. Go to the contact us page of this site. Here you will find our main email address.  Ask for a more in-depth explanation as to why we have not been able to assist.  With the volume of applications coming in we use automated replies so we can answer every single inquiry coming in. For a more personalised answer, it is best to email or call us.

How do I connect through social media with Automotive Employment NZ?

Join LinkedIn and send us a request, any category is OK for the link request, the request will likely be accepted but you must have a motor industry background.

The best way to connect with us on Facebook is to click the follow button on the Automotive Employment NZ Facebook account.

Individual consultants may or may not use Facebook, don’t be offended if they don’t accept your request.  Our consultants have their own social circles outside work.  If you have built a sound relationship send an invite, we love to engage with new friends.

I want to know more about what’s happening in the New Zealand motor industry, how do I get news?

Go to the news section.  Here you can sign up for a range of news.  This includes full labour market reports for the executive market, news snippets and newsletters.  You can opt out anytime you wish automatically or manage your news from your login.

If you have a question not answered above go to the contact us section and send us your question. We will happily correspond to most questions.
