Covid 19 Update

Important news for those workers displaced by economic impacts of COVID-19

With the entire globe weathering COVID-19, we are all too aware that the highly infectious disease finds us in uncharted waters. NZ businesses are in lockdown. Few executives are predicting improvements quickly and sustainable levels of sales not expected to lift for a year or more.

Motor industry employers have been strategising for a variety of circumstances.  We have seen plans for reduced hours, reduced pay, and redundancies seem self-evident for most companies. Government are already talking of potentially double-digit unemployment figures this early in the event.

From an employment relations perspective the difference between the GFC and COVID-19 events is fear and panic. COVID-19 hit hard and fast.  Fear for continued livelihood is real. Perhaps employees should expect an enhanced level of support? Companies too must survive.

Automotive Employment NZ saw employers need a solution quickly, a support package for employees.

Following below is the program we have made available to New Zealand employers forced to make redundancies in crisis management.

Job Rescue and Recovery Program is currently a program being rolled out by a number of motor industry employers around New Zealand in conjuction with Automotive Employment NZ.

Do your bit and and share the news on Facebook or your favourite social media to get the word out.
