An update of the current situation as at 20-08-2020

Auckland has returned to Covid-19 level 3 lockdown.  The rest of New Zealand is at level 2.

So far New Zealand has contained the resurgence of Covid-19 well, daily resurgence figures are already declining and there is hope NZ will once again control infections and be free of community infections.  Upgraded controls on isolations centres have been rolled out with now some 17 miltary personnel controlling each isolation centre.

We have 5 new cases of COVID-19 in the community. 4 are Auckland-based and 1 is connected to the 2 Tokoroa cases and is currently in Waikato Hospital.

This brings our total number of active cases to 101.

Of the 80 cases linked to the community outbreak, 78 are linked to the Auckland cluster and 2 remain under investigation: the maintenance worker at the Rydges Hotel facility and a case announced yesterday which has been reclassified as under investigation. Based on information received this morning, this person was at St Lukes Mall on the morning of 12 Aug. Since that time, St Lukes has been shut under Alert level 3. Anyone who was in St Lukes mall at that time should be alert to symptoms and call Healthline for any concerns.

133 people linked to the cluster have been moved to the Auckland facility, including 65 positive cases.

There are 6 people receiving Hospital care for COVID-19. 1 is in Auckland City Hospital, 4 are in Middlemore and 1 is in Waikato Hospital.

Our total number of confirmed cases to date is 1304.

Yesterday our labs processed 18,091. Our total number of tests to date is 657,506.
