A remarkable role
As one of New Zealand’s largest state-owned enterprises this company is responsible for a large fleet of vehicles, farm machinery and, in this case, many ATV’s, side by sides, and farm bikes. They also service and maintain a fleet of Toyota Hilux diesel utes and Suzuki compact 4x4’s.
Why is the role remarkable?
Over the years we have observed that the skills of a small engine technician are sometimes undervalued in terms of pay rates compared to some sectors of the industry. The frustration of attempting to get the break needed to redeploy skills into the more lucrative heavy diesel farm machinery sector is one often sought but rarely achieved.
This role provides both the opportunity to earn a higher income than normal repairing the equipment you are familiar with while also further developing your skills into the farm machinery sector working on tractors, excavators, harvesters, cultivation, and spraying equipment.
We are not suggesting you will be involved in the heavy diesel work every day as this role primarily involves the smaller engines mentioned above but you may be required to assist on the farming equipment to when called on and this is an enormous opportunity and adds diversity to the role.
Who is the employer?
The employer is a government owned organisation and one of New Zealand’s largest state-owned enterprises. While this is a fleet field service role, the focus is on quality preventive maintenance and full repairs. The fleet is modern, the workshop facilities and field service vehicles top class. The service vehicle is decked out impressively complete with hydraulic hoist, oil containment systems, and so much more.
The technical team includes specialists in agricultural equipment, engineering, and of course the vehicles and equipment you are skilled at repairing. Technicians are supported by sound service management and technical support.
