AutoSelect is a registered motor vehicle trader that sells FleetPartners’ quality, ex-lease vehicles directly to the public with sites in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. They pride themselves in delivering excellent customer service and providing their customers with the best advice for making an educated vehicle purchase. The Auckland site carries most of the stock and has access to over 300 vehicles every month. They provide financial services and accept trade-in vehicles.

The role of Used Vehicle Sales Manager

Operating from the Auckland site, this role will keep you busy leading and motivating a team of up to 9 people including Sales Advisors and vehicle grooming staff. You will oversee the setting and achievement of targets for used vehicle sales whilst maintaining superior and professional customer service at all times. You will be supporting AutoSelect senior management in all commercial and people related initiatives and interactions.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead, motivate, and develop your team
  • Conduct annual performance review process by conducting one-on-one meetings, team meetings, and other initiatives
  • Produce monthly Sales Advisor Commission Reports for AutoSelect GM to approve 
  • Ensure all health and safety requirements are met
  • Coach the team on an ongoing basis and review their performance against targets set
  • Lead by example and according to company values
  • Ensuring expected sales targets are met
  • Delivering superior customer service with the utmost professionalism
  • Follow up on customers and handle objections as necessary
  • Inform senior management of any commercial issues with regards to customers, suppliers, and F&I’s
  • Ensure “rows” are fully compliant with company policy and legal requirements through constant monitoring
  • Presentation of stock to the highest level
  • Ensure systems are maintained and up to date
  • Ensure leads are followed up and correctly updated
  • Manage stock (aged stock, monthly stock checks)
  • Ensure vehicles are priced upon arrival and regularly reviewed
  • Maintain a professional, friendly working relationship with all employees by providing clear and timely communication
  • Manage all trade-in values and disposals to ensure a neutral to positive outcome
  • Always adhere to FleetPartners’ Values & Code of Conduct at all times in all dealings within the company
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including leave management
  • All other duties as required


The skills and experience sought

  • Sales management experience within the automotive industry would be beneficial
  • Ideally 2 – 3 year experience in the used car sector in the New Zealand market
  • Proven track record of success
  • Strong team leadership, training and motivational guidance
  • Ability and knowledge to price both new stock and trade-in’s
  • Experience in managing inventory
  • Demonstrate financial knowledge, including the ability to develop and manage sales targets and budgets
  • Strong relationship building and networking skills with the ability to maintain professional relationships with senior management
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills to ensure strong closing ratio
  • Initiative and a can-do attitude
  • Lateral thinking ability and a willingness to challenge the status quo
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal



The position provides for a generous base salary, lucrative percentage of used car profits, company car, and a mobile phone.
