The employer is a successful business owner that is recruiting for a Workshop Manager to lead a medium sized team and who can work without supervision.
The owner does not live in town and ideally needs someone with leadership experience. Although you will be working strategically with the owner, you would be required to run the workshop as your own.
You will manage the admin staff as well as the mechanics within the workshop. There is a component of hands on work required - this role is an 80% hands on Workshop Manager role.

This vacancy is for a full time, permanent role offering a minimum of 45 hours across a Monday to Friday week.
The role and location
The workshop is located in West Auckland close to the beautiful black-sand surf beach beaches of Muriwai and Piha. You also have the chance to live in the coastal community of West Auckland with the added advantage of close proximity to the breathtaking Waitakere ranges.
- Working on the tools 80% of the time - general servicing and maintenance to a wide variety of cars as well as the occasional classic car
- Diagnostic work using the latest diagnostic equipment
- Minor and major repairs
- Managing the team of admin staff and mechanics within the workshop
- Dealing with customers
- Ensuring all paperwork is accurate and up to date
- Reporting to the owner on a weekly and monthly basis
- Driving profitability for the business
Skills we seek
- Relevant automotive trade qualification
- Good diagnostic skills
- Ability to complete major repairs
- Leadership experience in a workshop environment is highly preferred
- Friendly communication skills
- WOF ticket would be highly preferred
- Team player that can motivate the team
