About the employer
We are seeking an experienced Used Car Sales Manager to take charge of this high-end pre-owned vehicle division at a prestigious automotive dealership based in Christchurch.

The role
As the Used Car Sales Manager, you'll be responsible for leading a dynamic sales team, managing stock and pricing strategies, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

You will work closely with senior management to meet volume targets, maintain strong gross profit performance, and uphold the brand's high standards of excellence.

Key responsibilities include:
Team leadership and development:

• Achievement of sales targets both as a division of the dealership and your teams' individual sales targets
• Manage budgets, forecasts, and cost control, in conjunction with Dealer Principal
• Motivate, coach, and manage a medium-sized sales team to exceed targets
• Conduct performance reviews and implement training programs

Sales strategy and execution:

• Drive used vehicle sales through structured processes and CRM/DMS tools
• Oversee pricing, appraisals, and inventory management
• Achievement of CSI ratings
• Ensure exceptional service standards for high-value clientele and corporate/industrial buyers
• Resolve escalated customer inquiries promptly
• Collaborate on digital/social media campaigns and traditional marketing initiatives
• Analyse market trends to identify growth opportunities
• Monitor KPIs and report on sales metrics to senior leadership

Strategic collaboration:

• Build sound relationships with the new vehicle distributor and their employees
• Partner with service, finance, and parts departments for cohesive operations

The skills and experience sought

• Proven experience in automotive sales management, ideally within the used vehicle segment, is required
• Strong leadership and people management skills with a high level of professionalism, integrity, and customer service focus
• Solid understanding of stock control, vehicle valuations, and F&I processes,. as well as the ability to analyse data and drive performance through insights
• Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities
• Clean, valid driver's license and the right to work in New Zealand
