The Transcold Group Ltd is a recognised market leader in New Zealand’s transport refrigeration industry providing quality solutions for trucks and trailers (primarily the Carrier product range and Dhollandia tail lifts) as well as container parts. In more recent times additional business growth saw the company supplying and fitting tail lifts for heavy truck and refrigerated trailer units and expanding the refrigerated transport business to encompass light to canter sized commercial vehicles.
About the role
This Service Manager role is responsible for the supervision of some 15 technical and support staff.

The skills and background required
You will need previous supervisory experience of mechanical/technical personnel and support staff. You will require familiarity with service operations to the extent you can competently lead others.
Your management skills should be coupled with your former technical background. Skills considered relevant include trade qualified heavy diesel technicians, automotive technical, auto electrical, or other mechanical engineering backgrounds that have had exposure to motor industry service operations.
Obviously technical familiarity with transport refrigeration products would be advantageous but this is not essential. Transcold operate in a niche market where any of the core skills highlighted along with the technical management skills required will prove of potential interest.

- Managing the Auckland service team, workshop, and field service activities
- Managing technicians' activities, including leave and leading a positive and motivated workforce to achieve even higher standards of productivity and efficiency
- Direct and manage senior service technicians to support service agents using technical knowledge
- Effectively manage and review comprehensive maintenance and repair agreements
- Meet service sales growth objectives while retaining and expanding the customer base
- Lead, develop, and implement a new level of service presentation of company, workshop, technician, and vehicle presentation
- Achieve agreed service productivity and department overheads cost goals
- Budget preparation and performance reporting for Auckland service department
- Technical training – internal and external; facilitate, coordinate develop, and execute a suitable training plan; recruitment and selection of apprentices; manage the apprenticeship process
- There are a range of reporting relationships across divisions in the company for the Auckland Service Manager
