About the employer
This employer’s waterfront location in Auckland is home to one of the world's leading marine manufacturers.
In NZ the boats in their class are revered as being the best of the best. The company manufactures a range of boats from high quality “weekender” recreational fishing boats to small launches and sells these products both nationally and globally.
This role is at the principal retail sales outlet for their boats and engines and is owned by a leading global marine outboard manufacturer.
The role
Powered by either VW, TDI marine engines, or marine outboards, the technician will find themselves diagnosing and repairing faults, involved in routine servicing and maintenance, but also involved in a range of repairs to other equipment.
It may be repairing the windlass, troubleshooting a GPS fault, a trailer repair, minor electrical work, or the occasional live bait tanks and accessories installation.
The technician will need to be flexible in the type of work they are involved in as the role is interesting and varied as most marine work is.
The skills required
In an ideal world the technician will possess the ability to work on the VW TDI engines but also have a working knowledge of outboard technology. The outboard skills can be taught if needed.
What is essential is that candidates possess a trade qualification either as a marine outboard technician or be a trade qualified/experienced VW automotive technician capable of working on VW TDI engines.
Remuneration and benefits
The benefits are obvious working alongside a team of technicians who are passionate about boating on the leading brand virtually right on the waterfront.
The remuneration is also attractive and the company large enough to provide career scope.
The facilities rival some of the best in the motor industry so the work environment is clean and well organised.
Perhaps the single most attractive aspect of the role is the people you work with. There is a real feeling of comradery.
How to apply
Applications from those wanting to relocate from elsewhere within NZ are welcome.
Unfortunately, due to border closures, we cannot accept applications from offshore migrants at present.
This vacancy is therefore only open to NZ citizens, residents, and those with Open Work Visas.
