Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Auto Electrician to join a professional heavy vehicle team in Christchurch.
 
This is a well-established heavy vehicle specialist with a strong reputation for quality workmanship, reliable service, and keeping commercial vehicles on the road.

About the role

• Diagnosing, repairing and maintaining electrical systems on heavy commercial vehicles
• Electrical fault-finding across modern heavy vehicle systems
• Diagnosing wiring, sensors, lighting, charging and starting systems
• Working with CAN-bus, electronic control modules and vehicle communication systems
• Using modern diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify electrical faults
• Installing and repairing vehicle electrical accessories and equipment
• Carrying out electrical repairs and modifications
• Supporting mechanical technicians with complex electrical diagnostics
• Attending breakdowns and completing field-based electrical repairs when required
• Completing workshop-based electrical repairs and maintenance
• Maintaining accurate service records and ensuring all work meets required standards

 
What we're looking for
The priority is an experienced Auto Electrician with a strong electrical diagnostic background and experience working on trucks, heavy vehicles, or commercial equipment.

• Qualified Auto Electrician
• Proven experience working on heavy commercial vehicles
• Experience using diagnostic equipment with strong electrical diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Good understanding of modern vehicle electrical and electronic systems
• Experience with CAN-bus and vehicle communication systems is advantageous
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams
• Strong understanding of batteries, charging and starting systems
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
• Full and clean driver's licence
• Class 2 licence or higher would be advantageous
• Strong focus on safety, quality and customer service
• Positive, professional, and team-oriented approach
