The role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated GSE Technician to join this dynamic team in Christchurch. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all our ground support equipment.
 
Your work will be crucial to maintaining the high standards of operations and supporting the seamless travel experience for thousands of passengers who visit the region.
 
  • Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance on a diverse fleet of GSE, including tow tractors, baggage tugs, conveyor belts, aircraft pushbacks, ground power units (GPUs), and air start units (ASUs).
  • Conduct thorough diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise operational disruptions
  • Complete accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, parts used, and work orders
  • Perform pre-operational inspections and ensure all equipment meets stringent safety and compliance standards
  • Liaise with operations teams to prioritise maintenance tasks and coordinate equipment availability
  • Order and manage parts and inventory
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and Civil Aviation Rules (CARs)  

The ideal candidate will have
  • A relevant automotive trade qualification
  • Proven experience in a similar role maintaining GSE or related heavy vehicles or equipment
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach
  • Proficiency in reading electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • A strong commitment to safety and a high attention to detail
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a close-knit team
  • A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence
