The recent acquisition of the national distribution rights for SsangYong and LDV and 5 retail dealerships introduced a range of substantial career opportunities at Inchcape NZ. This position is Dealer Principal for 2 retail SsangYong and LDV dealerships located in Henderson and Takanini.
The role and its duties
The role of Dealer Principal is responsible for the 2 retail sites which among them employ 60 staff including Sales Managers, F&I, sales staff, aftersales staff, and support staff. The role has accountability for the bottom-line profitability and performance of the business. The role reports to the National Head of Retail.
Financial:
- In conjunction with the National Head of retail ensure delivery of all key performance metrics in line with the business plan and budget expectations across all sites
- Budget setting, risk identification and mitigation plans where necessary
- Deliver strong unit growth, resulting in delivery of OEM structured bonus
- Ensure that stock in your dealership is optimised and fresh
- Provide a commercial focus and effective control of overheads and reporting of the same
Key responsibilities:
- Build an empowered leadership culture that motivates and leads all staff to high performance culture
- Introduce structure and organisation into the dealerships
- Both personally deliver training and ensure internal training resources are fully leveraged by your department managers
- Drive results for sales and aftersales
- Role model and drive a culture of accountability, customer focus and collaboration
- Lead a culture of innovation
- Proactively manage risk and ensure a safe work environment
- Ensure that all operations and processes are cost effective and optimised
- Deliver key operations to best practice standards set with a culture of no compromise in the delivery of quality standards and compliance
The skills and background sought
A significant retail motor industry background is required for this role. It is likely you will previously have managed a retail automotive dealership as Branch Manager, General Sales Manager, GM, or Dealer Principal. Alternatively, you possess an automotive management background and can demonstrate you have the skills and ability to step up and operate autonomously in a more senior role.
