The role
This is not a role selling cars, it will involve selling forklifts and materials handling equipment. This is an extremely rare chance to use your skills to sell equipment.
The heavy equipment sector is full of career opportunities and largely untapped for those of you presently in retail / fleet sales / sales management.
The sales roles involve territory management, developing business to business relationships with a view of supplying forklift and materials handling fleets. You will be trained to become a materials handling expert consulting on heavy equipment requirements.
There is a high content of field sales work and current enquiry is breaking all records. The materials handling sector may not be known to all of you but your customers will include warehousing and logistics operations, timber and hardware, manufacturing operations, transport, portside operations, container parks, agricultural, viticulture, cool stores, and so much more.
Essentially, if a product is on a pallet, it needs to be moved. This is a huge market, and a talented operator will excel.
We presently have the following roles available:
- Equipment Sales - within Auckland only
- Equipment Sales - based in Christchurch or Nelson for the upper South Island area
The opportunity and rewards
Heavy equipment roles remunerate in excess of what is normally paid in the light vehicle sector. For example, he base salary is almost double the average paid in the light sector. With commissions added, the OTE is $130-150k for a five day, largely 40 hour working week. A company car and mobile phone are also provided.
The role will give you more time out in the field as the role involces some travel also your territory. Freeing up your weekends is a bigger benefit than most realise. Your phone will no longer go off during the weekends and you will have more time with family and friends to enjoy life.
