In a COVID-19 environment, a job with one of the most established clubs in New Zealand must surely provide more job security than virtually anything presently available outside of COVID-19 emergency responses.

About the Panmure Yacht & Boating Club

The PYBC (Panmure Yacht & Boating Club) is one of the historic yacht clubs of New Zealand. First established 108 years ago, the club caters for members of the yachting and boating community.

The club rooms are an absolute waterfront location located on Kings Road, Panmure which is where this position is based.

The PYBC run racing regattas, fishing competitions, a cruising division, as well as provide catering for members, have haul out and maintenance facilities, along with a highly active social calendar. The PYBC is the hub that supports the boating and leisure activities for its large membership base.


The role

This is a permanent part time role 9h00 - 15h00, 5 days a week.

This is an office administration role dealing with all accounts and administrative functions including GST, FBT, PAYE, debtors and creditors, suppliers, bank reconciliations, communications and much more. This role is the classic office admin role and reports to the club commodore.

The PYBC operates a MYOB accounting system and you will need to be proficient with this software or at least have used the equivalent business accounting software. MYOB skills are the stronger preference.

There is also a content of written communication required for members, suppliers, local government, and other parties who have dealing with the PYBC along with membership processing.  

The role in its entirety is interesting and diverse.


The skills we are seeking

Firstly, you will need prior experience in a similar role, this is not a ‘learn as you go’ position; you will need to possess strong skills in all the areas indicated. Your communication skills will need to be of an excellent standard and your personal character warm and engaging. You will also need to be quick, efficient, and bright with brilliant multi-tasking skills.

The PYBC is a family friendly club facility and the successful applicant will be engaging with members daily but so too needs to be able to draw the line between work and recreation; it is a busy, active role.

Honesty is an integral part of the role and applicants will need to have a clean police record as a condition of employment.

The rewards and benefits

The role pays a competitive hourly remuneration.

There is approximately 20 to 30 hours work required each week but some flexibility is also possible.
