Dunedin has a population of 120,000 and has a rich
history with the Scottish community whom have a strong presence
in the city. The City is known for its friendly community and low
crime.
Aside
from all the range of entertainment which is available in most small
cities, the Dunedin peninsula is home to a variety of wildlife often
featured internationally on wildlife programmes. Seal colonies,
the endangered yellow eye Penguin and Royal albatross can all be
seen in the eco tourism operations around the region. Other activities
include boating, tramping, salmon, trout fishing and surfing to
name a few. The area is also home to KZ7 the local "friendly"
great white shark who feeds on the local seal population, reportedly
over 36 feet long and growing by the day if local rumours are anything
to go by. [And yes they do still surf down here.]
The
region is a short distance to ski fields, lakes and stunning scenery.
The full range of vacancies are often available
in Dunedin in sales, parts and both light and heavy automotive.
While the region can be cold in the winter months, it enjoys regular
crystal clear warm summers and is a lifestyle option worth considering.
Schools are good, crime is low and the community is close and supportive.
House prices are also reasonable meaning quality of lifestyle is
achievable here.
